Estimates, Not Medical Advice

The calculators and articles on Daily Calorie Calculator are for general information and education. They give estimates for healthy adults and are not a substitute for advice, diagnosis or treatment from a doctor, registered dietitian or other qualified health professional.

Who Should Talk to a Professional First

Check with a doctor or registered dietitian before you change how you eat or exercise if any of these apply to you:

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You are under 18.
  • You have diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease or another medical condition.
  • You take medication that affects your weight, appetite or metabolism.
  • You have a history of disordered eating.
  • You plan to eat fewer than 1,200 calories a day (women) or 1,500 calories a day (men).

Why Results Can Be Wrong

Every formula on this site predicts an average. Two people with the same age, height and weight can burn very different amounts of energy. Body composition, genetics, medication, sleep, health conditions and how accurately you enter your activity level all shift the true number. Treat any result as a starting point and adjust based on how your weight actually changes over several weeks.

No Professional Relationship

Using this site does not create a doctor-patient or dietitian-client relationship. Never ignore professional advice or delay seeking it because of something you read or calculated here. If you think you may have a medical emergency, call your doctor or emergency services right away.
